Breath of the Wild.....for me the first real Zelda game since Oot and Majora's Mask. The new approach, the open world, the mechanics, the freedom of exploration.....no "let's take you by the hand every step of the way" gameplay....amazing art and even though I think that the story is probably the weakest part of this game...I liked the story as well.
For me, Breath of the Wild was something that had to happen in order to make me believe in the Zelda games again and it delivered above and beyond. I was talking to my friends about it, couldn’t wait to get home and play the game again…basically I turned 15 again.
So........i tried to create a Koji Kondo/Nintendo like track for Breath of the Wild. I imagined running around in those green fields and creating my own adventure…this became the soundtrack for it. The bridge is somewhat inspired by Castlevania because I just always felt that the nighttime in Zelda games had a somewhat similar feel to them compared to the old Castlevania series.
Now…the experience of creating this track was something else as well. I have much to learn about the orchestral sounds and way to make them sound smoother digitally but writing more music like this will become my focus this coming time. Koji Kondo is my biggest inspiration when it comes to game music…so I’m diving in a little deeper to get a better understanding of it. 2017
